It’s just a week out before the start of 3DEXPERIENCE World 2024 – Dallas, TX and like many others, I’ve spent the weekend getting ready! The normal domestic things, like washing clothes to wear & packing my bag! As I have a technical session to present, I’m still making some final additions & tweaks especially after a mid-week discovery (but more on that in another post). I guess that is going to go on all week, because there is always more to talk about, than what the time will allow.

As I’m presenting on Customising the SOLIDWORKS Interface and how that will help to reduce your mouse travel & the number of mouse clicks, I thought I should start fresh and made a last minute decision to turn up with a new computer. A week out from World, what could possibly go wrong? So I’ve been madly setting up this Dell Precision 3480 Mobile Workstation with SOLIDWORKS and seeing what is different with Window 11. 

I fly out this Friday, for Dallas via Houston. A mere 15 & 1/2 hour flight from Sydney to Houston & another 1 & a 1/2 hours up to Dallas. By the time I get to and from the airports and stand in a few queues, as you do in airports, it will be a good 24hours of travel to get there. But by the miracle of the International Date Line and a couple of time zone changes along the way, I’ll get there just an hour & half after I leave …

But my travels are minor compared to one. I see that Lennart Tinndahl has already hit Boston from Denmark, before embarking on the great train adventure from Boston to Dallas. I’ve stolen his latest prologue (below) and I’m look forward to seeing Tinndahl Tips from the Train, over the next week. Always entertaining & educational!  Follow along with his (& others?) adventures, on LinkedIn over the next week as he makes his way, from Boston, through the American mid-west, before heading south to Dallas.  

I see that Rooms have now been allocated for the breakout sessions, so I’ve added those and have been finalising all my other commitments into my Outlook calendar! I’ve run out of blank spaces, and have more than a couple of double ups from the Saturday night until Thursday morning!

Speaking of Saturday night, if you are in early, then there is the CAD Monkey’s Dinner at the Vetted Well. Just a short stroll down from the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center. Details and tickets can be found here.

Although this years 3DEXPERIENCE World 2024 is a “live in person” only event, it doesn’t mean that Dassault Systemes SOLIDWORKS is going to leave those who can’t attend, just hanging out to dry! There is a full agenda scheduled and ready to be roll out, over on the SOLIDWORKS LIVE channel. Be sure to tune in!

I also see that the full list of Keynotes speakers and presenters have been scheduled, for the General Sessions over at the 3DEXPERIENCE World website. As always, Dassault Systemes SOLIDWORKS have put together a wide cross section and interesting selection of people.  Which I’m sure they will make for some entertaining, thought provoking and educational sessions. 

The only thing left between now and World, is four, slightly chaotic days of work, some presentation practice and a day of travel!
