Saturday 22nd January 2011 – A relaxing day before the start of what is SolidWorks World 2011
After Fridays flights I awoke Saturday morning & it appeared that my head had worked out that I should be on San Antonio time! With a day to relax I took the opportunity to have a look around San Antonio. Ventured down and did the Riverwalk. Walked back via the “Alamo” Obviously a very significant & historical part of San Antonio & Texas Then the day just got real interesting for me. A little background to start. For the past few years I’ve had a connection to many of the SolidWorks users, blogger & those associated with the CAD industry via Twitter & their blogs. BUT there is nothing like face to facing meetings. So finally it was about to happen & happen it did. Just sat down with Deepak Gupta (@gupta9665) when Richard Doyle (@SWUGN) said a quick hello before heading back out on the Airport Shuttle run. We were soon joined by Charles Culp (@charlesculp), Ricky Jordan (rickyjordan), Rich Hall (@Richard_Hall), Matt Lorono (fcsuper) & Lou Gallo (@gol10dr). Ricky NEEDED Dinner & we were joined by Jason Raak (@jraak), good food, good conversation, great, great company. We wandered back after dinner to the Rivercenter “for a quiet drink” & met up with Rod Hall (@WhyNotDesign3D). Just when things appeared to be quiet, Matthew West (@matthewest), Al Dean (@alistardean) & Christine Longwell (@Clongwell) made an appearance. So at this stage I figured I’m having a pretty good day, correction a great day. Then Jon Hirschtick & Jeff Ray walk in! Did I say I was have a great day. I was hoping, hoping if the opportunity arose that whilst I was here there might be a possibility that I may meet Jon. I like most know (some of) the story, the “legend” behind the man. With in minutes I was introduced & a nicer man would be hard to find. So that was the day before, the day before the real action begins! Did I mention I had a great day!The fine print Disclaimer: As the winner of the SolidWorks World 2011 Internet Correspondent contest, my flights, accommodation & conference fees are being provide by the SolidWorks Corporation.
