SolidWorks World 2011 – The Countdown Begins #SWW11

It’s day one of the New Year which means one thing, twenty one days until I fly out to SolidWorks World 2011.

Ok I’m sure there are a few other things that will happen this year but at this stage I have a focus on this event!

Sww

By coincidence the movie Apollo 13 is on the television tonight.

When it was announced that Commander Capt. James Lovell Jr & Gene Kranz were to be the headline speakers at this year’s SolidWorks World, I said to ones self “Can this event get any better” & I haven’t even attended yet!

You see I was a child of the Apollo era. Growing up in Australia & its involvement in the Apollo missions meant it was always on the front page of the newspapers & the TV news of the time. I still have memories of being herded into our school library to view the grainy black & white footage of the Apollo 11 moon landing.   On what would have been a 24” mono-colour television?

The other great memory is of NASA’s marketing of the Apollo Missions with the release of the Apollo Program Patches.

For us these were only available through the Newspaper after collecting & returning many coupons.

I’m a little surprised to see that many are still available today.

For me SolidWorks World 2011 is just around the corner, I now have four days of work next week, then a week by the beach (South West Rocks, mid-north coast NSW), then four more days of work before twenty four hours of travel!

So I’ll be the one sporting a suntan & speaking with the funny accent!

If our paths cross please say hello.

Words cannot describe how much I’m looking forward to the whole SolidWorks World experience!

The fine print Disclaimer:

As the winner of the SolidWorks World 2011 Internet Correspondent contest, my flights, accommodation & conference fees are being provided by the SolidWorks Corporation.  However the thoughts, excitement & enthusiasm displayed in these posts are mine & mine alone!
