Dassault Systèmes SOLIDWORKS has quietly released SOLIDWORKS 2024 SP0.1 in the past week or so. They have a series of videos, highlighting many of the new features, which you can view on their What’s New in SOLIDWORKS 2024 channel.

I’ve been running SOLIDWORKS 2024 since the Beta release. I’m going to come straight out and say it. I think this release will prove to be one of the most significant releases of the software in the past 4 or 5 years. As has been the trend over the past few years with this release, we see a range of enhancements across the broad range which is classified as “SOLIDWORKS” including in the, PDM, Manage, CAM & Electrical components.

What makes SOLIDWORKS 2024 standout, is that we see more of those of those time saving features in the core components (Parts, Assembly & Drawings) of the software. Those daily features which reduce mouse clicks and simply makes thing easier.

One of those features is called “Sketch Dimension Previews” It needs to be first set. That can be found in Tools > Options > System Options > Sketch> Select – Preview sketch dimension when selected.

For those who have been around the software for a while it does take a little to stop you going straight into your normal method of selecting the dimension tool. Once you get over that it a simple method of just selecting an sketch entity/ Ctrl select entities for the dimension to preview and be able to be selected.
